Chapter 1
Trav'lin the Thebes-Farshût Line
Although J was the last letter added to the English alphabet, this digital anthology begins almost four thousand years ago on a trade route across the Theban Plateau during Egypt’s Late Middle Kingdom.
During this time, Egypt was in the middle of it’s second golden age, maybe it was around 1800 BCE, a period renowned for it’s art, literature and the expansion of trade. The Thebes-Farshut road was a crucial desert connector facilitating the transport of essential resources that flowed into and out of the southern city of Thebes.
